How to capture a page and build a multi-page PDF.
How do I scan a document?
Put the page on a table with even light. Open Scanner App and tap the scan button. Hold the iPhone above the page until the orange frame snaps to the corners, then take the shot. Keep the scan in a folder, or share it as a PDF or JPG. The full scanning guide has more tips.
Can I scan more than one page into the same PDF?
Yes. Scan the next pages into the same document. You can add and reorder pages later.
What if the app does not find the edges of the page?
Drag the corners to the edges of the page by hand. Edge detection works best with good contrast, so put a white page on a dark table. Keep all four corners of the page in the camera view.
Can I open a PDF that I already have?
Yes. Scanner App imports PDFs from other apps. After the import, the PDF is in your Scanner App library with your scans.

How to get the words out of a scanned page.
Can Scanner App recognize text in a scan?
Yes. OCR text recognition reads the text on a scanned page. Tap Copy All to copy the full text and paste it into any other app.
How do I put the recognized text into an email or a note?
Open the scan and start text recognition. Tap Copy All. Then open Mail, Notes or Messages and paste the text. You do not have to type the page again.
Signing
How to sign a document on your iPhone.
Can I sign a document with Scanner App?
Yes. Draw your signature with your finger, set the color and the line thickness, and place it on the page.
Do I need a printer to sign and return a document?
No. Scan or import the document, add your signature, and share the signed PDF by email or message. If you need paper, you can also print the document from the app.
Is a signature from Scanner App legally valid?
That depends on your country and the type of document. Many countries accept electronic signatures for common agreements, but some documents need a qualified or a handwritten signature. If you are not sure, ask the person or office that receives the document.
Files & privacy
Where your scans are, how to lock them and how to move them.
Where are my scanned documents stored?
Your documents are stored locally on your iPhone. You decide when a file leaves the device, for example when you share it as a PDF or JPG.
How do I lock private documents?
Move the documents to the Safe folder. The Safe folder is locked with a password, so the documents in it open only after you enter the password. Use it for passports, contracts and medical letters.
How do I organize and find my documents?
Sort your scans into folders, for example Receipts, Contracts or Taxes. Use document search to find a file when you do not remember its folder.
Does Scanner App sync to iCloud or another cloud?
No. Scanner App has no cloud sync, and the files stay on your iPhone. To keep a copy somewhere else, share the file to the Files app or to a cloud app that you have installed, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.
Which file formats can I share?
Share a scan as a PDF or as JPG images. Pick Original, Medium or Small quality. Small makes a smaller file for email. You can also print a document from the app.
Can I use Scanner App without an internet connection?
Yes. You can scan, crop, sign and organize documents without an internet connection, because the files are stored on your iPhone. To email a file or send it to a cloud app, you need a connection. The offline scanner guide has more detail.

Is Scanner App free?
Scanner App is free to download. Scanner App Pro starts with a 3-day free trial. You can cancel the trial in your App Store subscription settings before it ends.
How does the Pro free trial work?
The trial gives you Scanner App Pro for 3 days at no cost. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically at the price that the App Store shows you, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The price changes from country to country. The App Store and the in-app subscription screen show the current price in your currency before you confirm.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Tap your name (your Apple Account), then tap Subscriptions. Select Scanner App and tap Cancel Subscription, or pick a different option. Apple manages the payment, so we cannot cancel it for you.
How do I restore Pro on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account that you used to buy Pro. Open Scanner App and tap Restore Purchases. Pro becomes active again on the new device.
Apple handles every payment for Scanner App Pro. To check a charge or ask for a refund, use Apple’s billing support page.

Which iPhones and languages are supported?
Scanner App runs on iOS 13 or later and is available in 11 languages.
Does Scanner App work on iPad?
No. Scanner App is made for iPhone (iOS 13 or later). It is not available for iPad.
Which 11 languages does the app use?
English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian. The app uses the language of your iPhone when it is in this list.

How do I contact support?
Send a support request from inside Scanner App. You can also open the Scanner App page on the App Store and use the developer links there.
What do I do if the app crashes or freezes?
Close Scanner App and open it again. Update the app to the latest version from the App Store, then restart your iPhone. If the problem continues, send a support request from the app and tell us what you did before the crash.
